WELCOME TO MY BLOG.

I've always had an interest in gardens and in the natural world. I soon realized that these were more than just flowers to me, but people, places, pictures, history, thoughts...
Starting from a detail seen during one of my visits, unexpected worlds come out, sometimes turned to the past, others to the future.

Travel in a Garden invites you to discover them.

The Garden of Wonders. A Journey through Scents, Brera's Botanical Garden, Milan.

The generous mass of small, butter yellow flowers of a lovely Lady Banks' Rose (Rose Banksiae) covered the brick wall at the Brera's Botanical Garden in Milan.
The nearby wisteria, however, with its cascade of perfumed pale mauve clusters, seemed to get more success among visitors of the exhibition The Gardens of Wonders.

Opened during the hectic week of the Salone del Mobile, the exhibition explores the secret world of the perfumes with eight pavilions dedicated to as many glorious lost brands and a pavilion with nine bottles for the perfumes of the future. Contemporary designers have given form and substance to evanescent fragrances, reinterpretating their histories, opening windows in the golden pavilions from which to observe the past and the future.

Statues of golden exotic animals are scattered among the long rectangular flower beds of the Garden, where plants are planted according to a strict, scientific classification. Among them, the rose often recurs in the historical notes presented in another special pavilion where the history of the perfumes is traced from ancient times to present.

Probably, the rose mentioned is not the beautiful, thornless but scentless, Lady Banks' Rose.
